The 42-room Abbey Inn & Spa is a full-service boutique hotel opening in January in the former convent of the Episcopal Sisters of Saint Mary's nestled atop historic Fort Hill in Peekskill.
The convent has been repurposed with luxury accommodations and amenities.
These include a restaurant, spa, and fitness area, and meeting, event, and gathering spaces, both indoors and outdoors overlooking the Hudson River.
The Apropos Restaurant & Bar is the inn's contemporary-American eatery featuring Mediterranean-influenced and locally sourced fare.
Managed by Hay Creek Hotels, The Abbey Inn has undergone a $22 million renovation overseen by Martin Ginsburg of Ginsburg Development Companies.
The resulting design is contemporary with a universal feel, preserving the aged granite and brick exteriors of the former convent while reconfiguring interior spaces and transforming two chapels into meeting and event spaces.
The Abbey Inn occupies former convent buildings once inhabited between 1872 and 1963 by the Community of St. Mary-said to be the oldest Episcopal religious community in the United States.
The hotel adjoins 65-wooded acres of Fort Hill Park, scene of a historic three-day Revolutionary War battle in the late 1700s.
The inn is a mile from downtown Peekskill and the Metro-North station.
